If you have never visited Slovenia, the little town of Bled in region Gorenjska is the perfect place to start. Bled's surroundings and its natural beauties is definitely one of the top alpine destinations where you can enjoy the mild climate and lake’s thermal waters. The beauty of the mountains is reflected in the surface of the lake, while peace and fresh air create an atmosphere that will relax any visitor. The little town of Bled is best known for its magnificent lake (Slovenian: Blejsko jezero). The largest depth. It is a hundred feet deep at the deepest end and it can reach pleasant temperatures up to 26 degrees centigrade (78.8°F) during the warm summer months thanks to the thermal springs on the northwestern side of the lake. This is the perfect place to relax in the green surroundings in this semi-alpine climate during the summer months. There is a three mile promenade and a pathway perfect for walking, cycling or jogging. If you desire something more difficult, you can always do the traditional Bled activity: rowing. This lake even hosts international rowing competition. When the temperatures seriously drop in winter, you can even ice skate on the surface of the lake. The traditional Bled lake boats that you can embark to go on a trip around the lake are called pletne. They can take you to the only island in Slovenia. If you come to the islet, you can take the 99 steps to the romantic church that often hosts wedding ceremonies.
Just outside the town of Bled begins Triglav National Park, the only national park in Slovenia, which covers 4% of the country. It covers almost the landscape of the Julian Alps and it is one of the oldest parks in Europe. Here you can enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities that do not harm nor pollute the environment or endanger the flora and fauna. Already in 1937 there has been a golf court here. Today it is the largest and oldest golf court in Slovenia, where you can golf from march to November. Have you ever heard of bellyaking or geocaching? Here you can try them or horse riding, motorcycling, ballooning, fishing, tennis and so many other activities that you will just have to make a long booking if you want to try out the most of them. Winter holiday in Gorenjska will offer you the richest activity collection in the entire country. Area Pokljuka host cross country ski competitions. Of course, there is alpine skiing here, as well as ice climbing, tobogganing, snow shoeing, boarding and so much more.
