A quirky and bustling metropolis
The stunning Strossmayer promenade in the Upper Town makes the perfect setting for a romantic stroll in the evening. You can reach the aptly named 'Upper Town' using the speedy funicular, which takes you up to the higher part of the city in just 55 seconds. For those that love anything botanical, then we would suggest a visit to the lovely botanical gardens of Zagreb - home to over 10,000 plant species it is a real oasis in the center of this lively city. In the eastern part of the city you will find the largest park in Zagreb - Maksimir - which also houses a zoo. For those who want to absorb a little Croatian culture during their stay, then Zagreb has plenty to offer you too. The city boasts thirty theaters and the same number of museums and numerous galleries. The Sports and Recreation Center Jarun offers cycling and walking paths as well as relaxation and refreshment on hot summer days as Jarun is often nicknamed the "Zagreb Sea" in the summer.
