Villages Okrug Gornji and Okrug Donji on Ciovo
The biggest attraction on the island is a monastery founded in the 15th century but there are also several churches worth a visit. Most of all, tourists are attracted to the island of Ciovo by pebble beaches rimmed with pine trees — not to mention the excellent food and wine that you will find on Ciovo. Okrug is located in the western part of the island and is divided into Okrug Gornji and Okrug Donji which are nice authentic Dalmatian villages to visit from Croatian holiday apartments. Okrug Gornji is one of the best tourist destinations on the island due to its amazing climate, bays, beaches and range of restaurants and bars, many of which specialize in Dalmatian cuisine. There is also a diving school where you can learn to dive in the beautiful waters of the Adriatic sea whilst staying in holiday rentals in Croatia. As the island of Ciovo is so close to the mainland, a trip to Trogir is highly recommended as you can discover this UNESCO World Heritage site and the 2000 year old center.
