History and Culture of Rovinj
Rovinj was originally built on an island and until 1763 linked to the mainland. In the 7th century the town was a fortress. As it was once governed by Venice, it is referred to as “Venice’s little brother,” and evidence of its influence remains. From the church there is a wonderful view over the rooftops of the city, the sailing ships and the sea in front of Istria.
