Immediately north of Vesteregn is Salme Nor, and then you come to Tryggelev Nor, which is a coastal lagoon, home and resting place of many rare bird species. The area is designated a nature reserve under the Bird Protection Fund. With the redevelopment of Nørreballe Nor, the impressive reserve will be expanded from 100 to 189 ha. With lakes, reed lakes, meadows, scrub and small forests, the area is now one of Denmark's most bird-rich wetlands.
