The small town of Lassan (1500 inhabitants) is a former fishing and farming village on the Pomeranian mainland directly on the Peene River. The island of Usedom is located visavis on the opposite bank. It can be reached via two bridges (approx. 10 km to the north and south) and by passenger boat, and the town has a harbour, bathing beach on the Peenestrom, restaurants and shopping facilities as well as canoe and boat hire. The municipal museum, St. John's Church and the herb garden in neighbouring Papendorf are well worth a visit. A harbour festival is traditionally held at the campsite in July.
